Hi! My name is Ephraim Fields and I am the artist behind Fields Sketchbook. I’m happy you’re here and excited to share my work with you. I am an architect who loves traveling and capturing the beauty of each city’s unique architecture through plein air sketching and photography. My passion for travel sketching grew during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, as my world slowed down and I could explore, rediscover and appreciate the countless monumental and intricately crafted landmarks in my own backyard of Washington, DC. I hand sketch each piece with various forms of mixed media: archival ink, water color, and copic markers.
A sketch is simply a line going for a walk”

Being able to travel and draw what I see excites me. My eyes open wider, my memories are stronger, and I become more deeply immersed in the environment, ready to share the story in front of me.”
Join Ephraim to learn the basics of watercolor including drawing principals, color mixing, creating tonal and value studies and watercolor brush techniques.
Students will learn watercolor washes, color theory and compositional concepts in order to paint a convincing watercolor.
